Eh I tried to write all of these paragraphs about why I make really gross noises over Dave/Sollux but then it all just spiraled out of control so here’s the sparknotes version.

>I like Dave. I like Sollux. They are two of my favourite characters in Homestuck. I think they should kiss. This is a good reason for any ship. This is probably the main reason of any ship. And that’s an acceptable reason.
>I think they would bounce of each other very well. They have a penchant for metaphors and banter and are witty motherfuckers. They’re funny. They can commiserate over the glory of having Terezi as a good friend. They both pretend to be cooler than they actually are, they are not actually cool at all. They would call each other out on their peacocking and faking and bullshittery and that would annoy/frighten both of them but then they would learn to deal with it.

>They both know they’re supposed to save their respective worlds but they’re far from being the main guy, they both know doom like they read it in a pamphlet, they know they’re going to have to step out of the way and let the real heroes through. One of them has an easier time choking this down than the other.

>They both need weird affirmation. Dave is neck deep in needing to impress while acting like he doesn’t have to prove himself to anyone and Sollux swings between being convinced that he’s a god and lying face down on the floor for a few days straight without moving. They would find weird ways to cut down on the dramatics and figure each other’s shit out without too much communication involved because they’re shit at communicating in ways that aren’t dripping irony or hyperboles, which would also lead to massive miscommunications. Dave is a kid with a really big heart who really wants to do things right and Sollux is a perfectionist and I think they would, unknowingly, try to better themselves in order to show up/show off/show that there’s something borderline to caring there.
>I ship it because it’s fun and I can and they’re fictional.

the deep and sentimental thing about shipping is just ship whatever and let people ship whatever that’s it and if people still get all offended at people shipping things they should probably take up a hobby. try knitting or something.

Dave Strider Gets A Roommate. This is a human au fic that is perfect on a lot of levels: the characterization is perfect, there’s a legitimate plot that isn’t cheesy, the writing is good! It’s nice! I think most people have read this, and if they haven’t they definitely should.
Double or Nothing. This isn’t even a shipping fic! But everything paraTactian does is gold, and I want to hold his hand a little. The way they interact in this fic has me clawing at my face and even though they resolutely do not kiss on the face even once or even MEAN to kiss on the face because they are talking about kissing OTHER PEOPLE, I think it is a good portrayal of their characters and how they bounce off each other splendidly.
Take You Wonder by Wonder. Ok this is kind of cheating shhhhhhh, it’s Dave/Sollux plus a Karkat but don’t you judge me, there is good Davesol in here, there is fantastic writing, and also flawless smut. Take it. Be merry.
